The creative writing process of the nature poem using emojis was a great experience. It’s the first time that I learned about emojis, even though I use emojis all the time to express a feeling or deliver a message. I initially thought of the poem theme to be historic but then realized that there is more to emojis. For example, taking a normal day in a life, I can use emojis to replace almost any word that is available, and sometimes I use an emoji to avoid writing a sentence. The theme of the poem is the circle of life. From babies to dying at an older age, emojis can help anyone see and understand the story of the poem.

Concrete poetry and computer science have huge similarities. The idea that somebody invented emojis to condense verbal expressions into small objects is exactly what programmers invent in computer science. As a programmer, there’s an artistic taste that comes into play when creating a software. For example, I made an ecommerce website for a local store and while making the website, I had to think outside of the box, about how to get a message across to customers that are diverse. I used images and numbers that would send signals to customers about a potential snatch deal. My goal was to indirectly influence the customer to think that they found a hidden gem. With the help of colors, I was able to direct customers attention to a specific area. Similar to concrete poems, the artist is conveying an indirect message about an idea.
